About Us
History
In 2011, Bernie Mulder and Pastor Joe Strong noticed the troubling cycle of inmates returning to old habits after release. Pastor Joe is the chaplain at the Whatcom County Jail and saw first hand how men, with nowhere else to go, were stuck in a repeating cycle of hopelessness. There needed to be a better way to provide a faith-based alternative for men who genuinely want to change their lives. Bridges of Hope was created to give these men a second chance in life. We help them build a relationship with God and add value to the community. Furthermore, we provide mentorship, vocational and life skills training, and educational opportunities.
Our First Home Location is a Reality!
In 2014 our first transformational home in Northern Whatcom County began operating. We are extremely grateful to the many men and women, organizations, and churches who have generously supported this effort. It is a blessing to be able to serve God and serve these men along with all of you. Through your partnership, many men have had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ and have put the broken pieces of their lives back together.
