Praise God. It’s been 10 years since starting Bridges of Hope. He has been faithful and keeps pouring into the men that come into our transformational program. This year, we’ve seen him do some amazing work.
For most of 2023, the house was at capacity. We had Forest, Andrian, Josh, Rick, Darren, Danny, Tom, Eddie, Sam, Jason and Andrew in the home in 2023. It’s incredible and tight for a house with only six beds. God led all 11 men to our house to help them walk with him, heal, and recover!
Four men have moved out and are back on their feet, living in their own homes.
Forest is living on Whidbey Island with his kids and wife and working in the shipyard. He is doing his best to be faithful to God and is grateful for your support, prayers, and the love you showed him.
Andrian found a home and is living with his kids while working in Ferndale. Andrian is doing great and thriving in his work and life. He still comes by the house to help the guys in the program by providing rides to work, if needed.
Josh moved out and is living in Lynden. He works as a net factory millwright and enjoys growing a relationship with his son. He is trying to find the right place to feel comfortable attending church. Please pray for him to find the right church where he can feel relaxed and at home.
Rick moved out and is living in Lynden. It has been great having Rick still attend bible study so he can interact with the men and share his wisdom in the word. Rick is a great help to the men in the house if they need anything. Please keep praying for Rick.
Although the stories of transformation don’t always go in the direction we hope, we rejoice that God is at work with Darren, Danny, and Tom, who are no longer in the program. Still, we will continue to pray for them and trust that the Lord will give them everything they need for victory in their daily battles.
Eddie is working in Ferndale and doing great in the program. He acquired his driver’s license and is saving up to buy a car. Sam moved in last month and secured a job on the 2nd day of being in the program. He is working in Bellingham as a mechanic. Jason and Andrew just moved in the previous two weeks. I am excited to watch how God keeps working in their life.
Wednesday night house Bible Study.
Here is a testament of Joe Fliss, who went through our program.
“All my life, since I was a pre-teen, I struggled with lust issues and addiction. It started in my mind as something innocent, but as I fed my wrongdoings, they became increasingly stronger cancers in my life. In my early 20’s, I tried cocaine for the first time. All love in my life seemed to disappear. I became this monster that didn’t care about anyone or anything. I wanted to die. I never want to be in that state again and wouldn’t wish it on anybody. Through the help of God, a loving family, and bridges of hope, I was able to have a new life after near death. All I can do is rebuild and love others just like God and others loved me.”
Joe Fliss, 2020 BOH program graduate.
We have 17 applications from men who are looking for a place to heal and recover. We have been praying that God would open the door for BOH to purchase a home so we can continue to grow and make updates to the facility. Please pray with us for this need as we move into 2024.
In 2023 Bridges of Hope had some changes on the board. Greg Bode, who has been on the board since 2014, has resigned. We wish Greg the best retirement and are thankful for his years serving this ministry by working with the men and being our treasurer. If you have any questions about your 501c3 donation receipt or have any needs, please email me at kingsmenway@gmail.com.
Harry Faber joined our board this year and has been a blessing in leading the Bible study every Wednesday night at the Bridges of Hope House. You are welcome to join us at 6:30 pm at our house.
Jess Mitchel joined our board last month, and we are excited to have her as part of our ministry.
Bernie and Starla Mulder, Chris Brewer, and I, Tate Jordan, continue to serve on the board. We will keep trusting in God in every decision we make.
Going into 2024, I will transition full-time as the Director of Bridges of Hope. I am grateful that God has given me this opportunity. I plan on working with the men in the house and men living in the community who need help winning the battles they have every day with recovery. (Alcohol, drugs, domestic violence, and sinful characteristics) I will work with them on building our program to help them grow in their recovery. I will have time to help find them a SAM (A Christian man who wants to do life with the men in our house). If you would like to learn what a SAM discipleship partner is with Bridges of Hope, please get in touch with me. We need men from the local church and the community to help the men in the home, as most of them do not have godly friends or father figures who can mentor them and build them up. We are thankful for the support from and relationships with our donors, partners, and churches. If you would like to learn more about Bridges of Hope, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I look forward to talking with you. Thank you so much for your support over the last 10 years.
